Alicia Bahe, B.A., B.S., Psychometrist
Alicia Bahe earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Veterinary Science and Sociology at the University of Arizona. She developed a love for the precise and ever-evolving field of Science at a young age, while on the path to become a large animal veterinarian like her father. When she was about halfway through her Vet Science program, she took an interest in the application of scientific principles to Social Science. When an unexpected door to involvement in the field was opened to her, she found herself in uncharted territory. She quickly declared a second field of study, and the seemingly unlikely fusion of these two sciences led her to a position at Neuropsychology Ltd. She first met Dr. Burger there (in October 2014), where she worked as a psychometrist for a year before being promoted to the lead/senior psychometrist. She worked for an additional 2 years in this position, which overlapped in part with the Center for Neurosciences (CNS) takeover. She later left CNS to take a position in a research department at the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine (in November 2017).
At present, Alicia works as a research specialist in the Department of Neurology at the University of Arizona, where she coordinates and conducts psychometric testing for research protocols that span a variety of topics in Neurology (including but not limited to dementia, movement disorders, adult epilepsy and pediatric epilepsy). She works most routinely with dementia (many of them Alzheimer’s) patients, serving as a certified rater and coordinator for Arizona Alzheimer’s Disease Core Center (ADCC). She also works part time at A-Z. In her free time, she enjoys reading and hiking with her boyfriend and Australian Shepherd, Binx. She enjoys being busy, finding that she achieves her best self when she has a full calendar (of work, planned trips and events). She is also actively learning about mindfulness (coincidentally, as is her father), and about the beauty inherent to slowing down and savoring the present. In line with the goals inherent to such a pursuit, she hopes ultimately to visit every continent and every National Park.
