Amanda Nicholas, B.S., CSP

Amanda earned her bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she also competed in Division I softball for 4 years. She discovered her love for science and medicine at a young age and directed her passion and effort towards achieving a career in Neurosurgery. While in college, Amanda was afforded opportunities to work with a plethora of people, allowing her to hone her skills in communication, patience, and caregiving. She pushed her way into the medical field at the age of 19 and was hired to work in a group home setting as her first place of employment. Here, she formed meaningful and memorable relationships with individuals living with severe disabilities and violent tendencies. After spending over a year in that setting, Amanda was granted the position of a care associate in a senior retirement community. In this position, she was able to expand her skill set to cover the geriatric population and disabilities which accompany aging. Upon graduating college, Amanda was leading an assembly line in the Tesla Gigafactory before gravitating back toward the medical field. She was all too excited to leave her factory job to return to her passion. Accepting an invitation to work at Center for Neurosciences in April of 2019, Amanda promptly returned to her hometown. She reconnected with Dr. Biggan (her former softball coach) who introduced her to the art of psychometry and unknowingly, her future career as a neuropsychologist. Dr. Biggan transitioned back into her private practice, Neuropsychology Ltd, and she introduced Amanda to Dr. Burger during that transition (in September of 2019).

Presently, Amanda works full time at A-Z as a psychometrist, where she serves also as Dr. Burger’s clinical administrative assistant. She hopes to continue to advance her clinical skills here, as she shifts her career focus from neurosurgery to neuropsychology. She is excited to be presented with the opportunity to train in assessment across the lifespan, and she hopes expanding her knowledge and clinical experience will help her be a competitive future candidate when she decides to pursue her doctoral degree. When Amanda is not consumed by her work, she enjoys spending time in her garden or with her family and many animals. She is happy when her gentle touch and caring hand can extend to the reptilian kingdom, a misunderstood class of domesticated pets. She is enamored by her garden, where peace and serenity are ubiquitous within her magical, safe haven (that of which a conglomeration of plants, insects, and tiny critters call home).
